A beautiful book that will feel familiar whilst being completely unique. The storyline unfolds through both Emily’s and Julia’s perspectives and does so with stunning descriptions, magic and endearing characters. The North Carolina location and the traditions shared within the pages are equally beautiful and wonderful to read about too. For an easy storyline there are lots of complex elements to the book.
I love reading Magical Realism and especially when gentle, like in this book. The magical elements were subtle little references that just made the book extra sparkly and special. If you’re looking for a cosy Autumnal read, a little bit of magic, a smattering of romance, and brilliant female friendships, this is the book for you.
