This is a great cosy crime read. There are some characters that true to reality and very likeable.

The setting is a murder mystery weekend in a country house. Can “Pie & Mash” as new detectives solve the mystery – and a second mystery that emerges from the weekend? What about their friends who are the perfect social media couple – will they beat them to it?

This has lots of very funny moments- it even made me laugh out loud- never normally happens with books I read. Yet there is “detection”, there is some logic and everything has explanations at the end.

I really enjoyed it, it’s the second book in the series but I read it very happily having not read the first one.

I want to read the first one, to spend more time with the characters and to see how these new detectives find their first case.

J. D. Brinkworth is the alias of married writing duo Jo Dinkin and Catherine Brinkworth – creators of The Pie & Mash Mysteries. Catherine writes for BBC favourites including The News Quiz and Have I Got News For You. Jo writes an upsetting number of emails every day. Their short stories have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and received recognition from the Margery Allingham Society and the Crime Writers’ Association. They live in South West London and recently qualified as private detectives from a suspiciously cheap online course.
