No-one is better than Diana Henry at turning the everyday into something special. With thanks to Liz for her review.
How does Lamb Chops with Walnut, Chilli and Honey Salsa sound? Or Baked Sausages with Apples, Raisins and Cider? I would happily choose either of those recipes, along with many more from this book.
At the beginning, there is an excellent guide explaining what to expect from the recipes, including serving sizes and the cooking equipment required. More importantly, Diana Henry introduces readers to some less familiar ingredients, making the book both informative and inspiring.
The front cover is rustic and as simple as the title suggests. The subtitle, Effortless Food, Big Flavours, perfectly captures the spirit of the book. The recipes are approachable yet packed with flavour, proving that great cooking doesn’t have to be complicated.
One recipe that particularly caught my eye was the Rhubarb and Raspberry Crumble Cake, which would work equally well as a comforting dessert or a teatime treat. I have always believed that flavourful food doesn’t need to come in huge portions and often requires very little accompaniment. This book seems to share that philosophy, focusing on simple, well-balanced dishes that allow the ingredients to shine.
This is a beautifully put-together collection of recipes that celebrates uncomplicated cooking and big, satisfying flavours.
