This was such a fun and unexpected read! I went into it not really knowing what to expect, but I quickly found myself getting caught up in the story and rooting for the characters.

The story is told from Edie’s perspective (one half of the lottery-winning couple) and unfolds across two different timelines, gradually revealing more about her life and everything she has been through. Edie really stood out to me because she has had so much to deal with, and as her story develops, you begin to understand just how much she has carried with her. I really felt for her and found myself wanting things to finally go right for her.

I loved the premise and the way the book explores how money can completely change things, but also how it can’t necessarily give you the things that really matter in life. There’s plenty of humour along the way, but also some lovely heartfelt moments that gave the story a little more depth than I was expecting.

The characters were easy to warm to and the story was really easy to get into, making this a perfect light-hearted read when you want something entertaining but still with plenty to think about.

A really enjoyable read that left me with a big smile — definitely one to pick up if you fancy something fun, feel-good and a little bit different!

Jay McKenzie grew up in the North East surrounded by storytellers and Catherine Cookson novels. She has worked as a holiday rep, a performing arts teacher, a life model and a street theatre performer in Greece, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Australia. Jay also writes short fiction and has received publication and recognition in a number of literary magazines. She has a penchant for knitwear and lives with her husband, daughter and too many cardigans.
