Straight from the Dragonfly Inn’s executive chef, Sookie St. James, Gilmore Girls: Sookie St. James’s Official Cookbook teaches fans how to make iconic recipes inspired by Gilmore Girls. With thanks to Liz for her review.
Firstly, the cover! I absolutely love the texture and style. Inside, the book is filled with beautifully clear, sunny photographs that perfectly complement the recipes. I especially like how it is divided into sections, each packed with plenty of choices and inspiration to encourage you to try something new.
The introduction is personal, humorous, and engaging. You certainly don’t need to be a Gilmore Girls fan to enjoy this book or proudly display it on your shelf, although after browsing through it, you may well become one if you’re not already.
Sookie St. James, Executive Chef at the Dragonfly Inn, provides a wonderful insight into the iconic recipes inspired by Gilmore Girls. There are so many dishes I’d love to try. The “Bid on a Basket” Pineapple Chutney and the Peach Sauce are high on my list.
For the current variable weather, the beautiful Jackson’s Vegetable Carpaccio seems much more appropriate. What a stunning dish, and it looks so wonderfully summery. I also have a box of assorted Isle of Wight tomatoes just begging to be turned into the colourful Hothouse Tomato Salad with Fresh Herbs. That would be perfect.
I loved this book. It’s sunny, happy, and colourful – much like Gilmore Girls itself.
