What’s worse than a big little lie? An even bigger little truth…
Don’t be fooled by the sunshine-yellow cover – The Forever Home has far more hidden depths than I was expecting.
One of the biggest surprises for me was just how many heavy, and at times quite dark, themes Erica James explores. It wasn’t quite what I expected going into the book, but that certainly wasn’t a bad thing. If anything, it gave a fresh new spin on the Erica James we’ve come to know and love, and I really enjoyed seeing a different side to her storytelling.
Despite the darker themes, at its heart this is a story about love, hope, friendship and community. And the home at the centre of it all provides the perfect backdrop for secrets to be unravelled, the past to be explored and the future to be considered.
There’s something rather special about a story where a house becomes so much more than just a setting – it becomes a place where lives, histories and people come together. The Forever Home surprised me, challenged some of my expectations, and ultimately left me with plenty to think about.

About the Book
In the glorious Cambridgeshire countryside, Hope Hall was once a grand country house, but it’s now been converted into beautiful luxury apartments and its new residents are moving in…
Cassie is blissfully in love with her partner Ben and looking forward to life in their new home, but shadows from Cassie’s first marriage loom large.
Gallery owner Nina needs a fresh start since losing her husband two years ago, but moving on will mean confronting a painful decision that will shatter her mother-in-law’s dreams.
Into their lives comes Venetia, a lively seventy-nine-year-old with a penchant for secrets. As Venetia faces her own bittersweet history with Hope Hall, the lives of the three women become intricately connected, revealing the power of friendship and the courage to confront the past.
