I read this book a year after I had almost lost my Husband – and as such it was a difficult but poignant read for me. But what a beautiful book it is. A P.S I love you for book lovers, for the literary world, and for anyone that’s ever felt a connection with a title, Author, or Bookshop. The power of literature to navigate grief is profound, and Libby Page has, it feels, poured her whole self into this book to make it raw and real.

It is a book about grief, but it is also incredibly hopeful and uplifting, and perhaps my new favourite – so much so I own three different editions!

Also be warned, there are more than twelve books mentioned in this book! Your pile of books will grow, your familiarity with some of the titles will have you wryly smiling, and you most definitely will get the urge to go and be in a Bookshop or Library, pretty quickly after finishing it.

About the Book

Twelve stories. Twelve months. Once chance to heal her heart…

When Tilly Nightingale receives a call telling her there’s a birthday gift from her husband waiting for her at her local bookshop, it couldn’t come as more of a shock. Partly, because she can’t remember the last time she read a book for pleasure. Mainly, because Joe died five months ago…
The gift is simple – twelve carefully chosen books from Joe, one for each month, to help her turn the page on her first year without him.
And so begins a reading-inspired journey that takes Tilly around the world; from bustling sidewalks in New York and the tree-lined avenues of Paris to the tranquil Tuscan countryside and the white sands of Bali. With the help of the bookshop owner, Alfie, Tilly starts to discover who she is now, after Joe.

But can Tilly’s year of books show her how to love again?
