This book was brilliantly claustrophobic with a dream wellness retreat swiftly descending into a nightmare in the Costa Rican Rainforest. The Characters with their secrets and vulnerabilities were really well constructed and their portrayals really added to the tension of the book as things escalated.
Nikki Allen is a debut Author and The Hideaway is very misleading, written in the tone and style of someone who has several destination thrillers behind their name, it felt very natural and accomplished.
The lush setting really added to this and that closeness feeling, initially a serene paradise transformed into a claustrophobic trap which really amplified the tension and sense of isolation.
Perfect for fans of Lucy Clarke, Nine Perfect Strangers and The White Lotus, this book offers a gripping exploration of trust, lies, secrets and survival.
