The Gingerbread Bakery was a a cosy, heartwarming holiday read introducing new characters in Dream Harbour and revisiting previous. From the charming small-town setting to the gentle romance woven throughout the story, this book had everything you’d want in a Hallmark-esque movie type read, with added spice.
I especially enjoyed the cosy atmosphere, Laurie Gilmore does a wonderful job bringing the small town to life, making it feel inviting and full of warmth. The characters are easy to connect with, and their emotional journeys feel sincere without being overwhelming. The romance unfolds naturally, with just the right balance of sweetness and tension to keep the story engaging. However… there wasn’t too much to set this aside from the previous books in the series and the next one will need to deviate from the normal algorithm to capture my attention I think!
