I love the story behind this book. Joe Moruzzi and Brendon Parry were childhood friends who eventually worked together as painters and decorators before becoming the creators of Pleesecakes. It’s a journey that proves passion and creativity can take you in unexpected directions.

This book encouraged me to think about cheesecake in a completely different way. Instead of seeing it as a fixed recipe, the authors break it down into three simple elements: a base, a filling and a topping. Mix and match these, and you have endless possibilities for what can only be described as Pleesecake heaven.

Some of the flavour combinations are wonderfully inventive. I have never tried a Bacon and Maple Syrup Mini Cheesecake, but it certainly looks indulgent and decadent. Then there are Banana and Marmite Minis—one of those recipes that will probably divide opinion, but that’s part of the fun. Throughout the book, Joe and Brendon encourage bakers to experiment, make things up as they go along and not be afraid to get creative.

Each recipe clearly states how many people it will serve, making the book particularly useful for entertaining. And if the numbers seem a little generous, there is always the added bonus of leftovers!

Whether you are an experienced baker or simply a cheesecake enthusiast, there is plenty here to inspire. The recipes are imaginative, fun and full of personality.

If you think you don’t like cheesecake, I would urge you to think again. This book might just change your mind.

Ex-painter-decorators Joe Moruzzi and Brendon Parry started Pleesecakes in January 2017 to supply friends and family with their popular cheesecakes. Since then they’ve amassed over 100,000 followers on social media.
