Calling this as one of the top Summer 2026 reads this year – it has absolutely everything to make a brilliant Summer romance. Fans of B.K Borrison and Sara Manning will love this book – a slow burn romance that follows Sam Avery and Ciara Sheridan, told from each point of view. It’s set in the bookish world, and what better slow burn romance than one between two book-lovers?
“I think I need to be clear, that given the choice, I would choose you every time.”
All of the ingredients needed to craft the perfect romance novel are in this book. There’s just the right amount of humour, spice, emotion and mystery. The emotional depth parts are deep but not so that they overshadow the more uplifting parts. The characters are great, incredibly endearing, and I’m already casting lead roles for the movie / netflix adaptation / Tv series!
Be prepared that this is going to be one of your favourite romance novels, akin to Good Spirits at least, and that you’ll want more from all of the characters when you turn that very last page!

About the Book
Ciara Sheridan’s father has left her with three things: a sprawling and distinctly ramshackle estate on the Irish coast, the outline for the finale to his bestselling epic fantasy series that he wanted her to finish – and writer’s block.
Enter Sam Avery: Frank-Sheridan-fanboy and hotshot editor, sent from the New York publishing house direct to her doorstep – against Ciara’s wishes and red pen at the ready.
With the deadline looming, Ciara and Sam have just a few weeks to stop bickering, write this novel and secure Frank’s legacy.
But as the summer heats up, so too does the tension between them. Will their own love story be the plot twist neither of them sees coming?
