The first in a new detective series featuring an unforgettable female detective partnership, Shot in the Dark is perfect for fans of Cara Hunter and Gytha Lodge. Thank you to Jo for a Guest Review for this one!

This is a great crime/ detective story that I really enjoyed especially for the different way of writing. It makes you really feel immersed in the story as you are privy to the messages and reports from a variety of people allowing you to come to your own conclusions from the evidence.

This is the first of three novels focusing on a pair of detectives based around Southampton – DI Juliet Stern and DS Gabriella (Gabe) Martin. A girls body is found in woods belonging to the Dunlow family’s estate. We’re faced with the questions of ‘Who killed her, why, and why there?’ The story emerges with lots of possibilities, lots of dead ends and plenty of surprises.

A different style of writing for a detective novel compared to my normal reads but i found it very enjoyable, so much so that I’ve already read book two in the series and book three is queued up ready too.

About the Book

Run.

Moonlight slants through the trees on the ancestral Dunlow estate, where a young woman runs for her life. Gunshots break the silence.

The next morning, the body of seventeen-year-old student Melanie Pirt is found.

DS Gabe Martin is more than ready to take the lead on her first murder case. Determined to prove herself to the cold and mysterious DI Juliet Stern, Gabe can’t afford any distractions – especially not ones that wake her in the night, reminding her of a past she’d rather forget.

Because while Gabe and Juliet have few leads, there are plenty of suspects. And every one of them is lying…
