This book has been sat on my TBR pile for longer than I would have liked, but when I finally picked it up (as its release date is August, and I needed to get a move on), I just couldn’t put it down.
Set in the world of Theatre, this book is one woven with magic and mystery. The story follows Emberlyn, a girl cursed by the ‘Puppet Master’ to become one of his Marionettes; forcing the girls to dance until they literally turn to dust. As one of them tries to break free from the curse this gothic fantasy has you rooting for them to cut the ties that bind them.
I really loved the Theatre setting – with the book split in to ‘Acts’ alongside traditional chapters. It really did create such a vivid, gothic atmosphere to the story and the build up to ‘Act 3’ had me gripped like I was right there in the audience watching it unfold.
This book is perfect for fans of Phantom of the Opera, with its dark, gothic romance set in the world of Theatre and covers themes of sisterhood, sacrifice and liberation, along with the darker themes of control and manipulation.

About the Book
Emberlyn is a Marionette – one of a troupe of hauntingly beautiful girls who have been cursed to perform until they turn to dust… When another one of her sisters falls, Emberlyn decides she must fight back against their Puppet Master and free them from this violent dance. Whisked away to a new theatre, Emberlyn seizes the chance to escape, but instead brings dark secrets and a boy made of shadows to light…
As her strings tighten, Emberlyn realizes the only way to break free is to end the Puppet Master once and for all. Except tearing the life out of his veins might destroy the Marionettes too… Girls of Dark Divine is an enthralling debut Gothic fantasy, laced with dark magic, electrifying romance and burning rage, perfect for fans of Adalyn Grace and Stephanie Garber.
